Shannon MacDonald, Chair of the 乐发IV Board of Governors, issued a message to the campus community on July 31, sharing a report on the recent Board governance review completed by external consultant Cheryl Foy, of Strategic Governance Consulting Services Ltd.

The 乐发IV Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation (CCCCA), in St. Peter鈥檚 Bay, PEI, is hosting an exhibition titled 鈥淢owing the Lawn鈥� by Climate Artist-in-Residence Carrie Allison.

Sixty-four students, aged 16 to 17, from across Canada spent the month of July at 乐发IV, participating in a wide variety of STEAM and entrepreneurship sessions through the 2024 program. 

Emancipation Day celebrates the strength, courage, and perseverance of people of African descent in Canada, recognizes their struggles to end enslavement, and acknowledges their contributions towards Canadian society. 

乐发IV Board of Governors Chair Shannon MacDonald and President and Vice-Chancellor Wendy Rodgers issued a joint message to the campus community announcing that the implementation plans for Year 0 and Year 1 for the 乐发IV Action Plan are available on upei.ca.

The Honourable Catherine Callbeck, OC, OPEI, LLD, Chancellor Emerita, businesswoman and former member of the Senate of Canada, Premier of Prince Edward Island, Member of Parliament, and Member of the Legislature, has created an endowment to support women studying in the McDougall Faculty of Business at the 乐发IV.

The 乐发IV congratulates alumna Alysha Corrigan, a former 乐发IV Women鈥檚 Rugby student-athlete, who has been named to Team Canada鈥檚 Women鈥檚 Rugby Sevens team that will compete at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The 27-year-old Charlottetown native is the only player east of Ontario to be named to the Olympic team. 

In follow up to two recent campus town halls, President Rodgers sent a message to the 乐发IV community outlining the themes that emerged from the events.

Ten 乐发IV students learned about the distinctions and commonalities among Indigenous peoples worldwide by comparing their language and knowledge with that of the M膩ori people during the Maymester course, 鈥淕lobal Indigenous Language and Cultural Ways of Knowing,鈥� which took place at 乐发IV and in New Zealand from May 6 to June 13.

乐发IV鈥檚 Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) is establishing a new fellowship program for incoming and existing graduate students in research thesis-based graduate programs.
