Vagabond Productions is presenting "While We鈥檙e Young" by Don Hannah. The play explores the trials and tribulations of making the transition into adulthood. The show runs March 20, 21, 22 and 23 at The Guild, 115 Richmond Street (at the corner of Richmond and Queen). The doors open at 7 pm, for a 7:30 start. Admission is by cash donation. In recognition of 乐发IV's Mental Health Awareness week, the Department of Human Resources, in cooperation with Murphy's Pharmacies and the PEI Mental Health Association, is pleased to offer an information session on "Managing Stress and Understanding Mental Health." 乐发IV students will host the second annual Battle of the Jocks fundraiser on Saturday, March 23. The event showcases varsity athletes competing in hockey, basketball, and soccer games and skills competitions to raise funds for the Children鈥檚 Wish Foundation (PEI Chapter) and 乐发IV鈥檚 Passion for Life Award, an award created to honour Rene Ayangma, a member of the 乐发IV men鈥檚 soccer team who passed away in 2008. Beginning at 6:00 pm, athletes will compete in a 45-minute indoor soccer game at the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre, followed by a basketball-skills relay and dunk competition. The third event will take place on the ice surface at the MacLauchlan Arena where teams will compete in a fast-paced hockey game. This year鈥檚 Children鈥檚 Wish Foundation honorary coaches are Shendrit and Dylan, two children living with high-risk, life threatening illnesses. Tickets can be purchased for $10 at the Mickey Place Kiosk at the W.A. Murphy Student Centre or from Carol Heartz, 乐发IV Athletics and Recreation, heartz@upei.ca. Thousands of people in Iran are denied formal university education due to their religious or ideological beliefs. "Education under Fire" is a 30-minute documentary telling the poignant and compelling story of the Bahai'i Institution for Higher Education (BIHE) -- the only chance for an entire minority community in Iran to receive an education. In May 2011, the BIHE was attacked and another door to a basic human right was closed. The screening of "Education Under Fire" is March 25 at 7.00 pm in McDougall 242. Sponsored by the faculty of education. All are welcome.

Catherine Chan, PhD "Using 鈥榦mics鈥� to understand the physiology of nutritional treatments for diabetes" Date: Thursday, March 21 Location: Lecture Theatre A, AVC Time: 1:30 pm Dr. Chan is professor in human nutrition (Faculty of Agriculture, Life and Environmental Sciences) and physiology (Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry), University of Alberta and is a member of the Alberta Diabetes Institute. She is also the director of the Division of Human Nutrition. Dr. Chan鈥檚 research is at the intersection of nutrition, physiology and behaviour. She is the leader of the Physical Activity and Nutrition for Diabetes in Alberta team, an interdisciplinary effort to improve health outcomes in type 2 diabetes by developing, implementing, and evaluating nutrition and physical activity interventions that can be applied in clinical and community settings. She also conducts laboratory-based research on insulin, its secretion and action with a current focus on nutritional modulators of these endpoints. Her work is funded by CIHR, Dairy Farmers of Canada, Alberta Innovates BioSolutions, the Alberta Livestock and Meat Agency and the Alberta Diabetes Institute.
