The 乐发IV held its 21st Recognition of Founders ceremony on Monday, December 19, 2022, in The McCain Foundation Learning Commons, Atlantic Veterinary College, to acknowledge those who have contributed to the University in a significant way.

U SPORTS announced today that 23 student-athletes, including 乐发IV Men鈥檚 Hockey Panthers TJ Shea, Kyle Maksimovich, and Matt Brassard, have been selected to play for Team Canada in men鈥檚 hockey at the 2023 Federation Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU) Winter World University Games in Lake Placid, New York. The 31st edition of the FISU Games is set for January 11鈥�22, with the men鈥檚 hockey event running from January 12鈥�22.

The 乐发IV Panthers will be well represented when the U SPORTS men鈥檚 hockey all-stars compete against Canada鈥檚 national junior team selection camp hopefuls this weekend.

This year, U SPORTS has selected players exclusively from Atlantic University Sport (AUS), and five of them play for the Panthers.

Dear Members of the University Community,

The 乐发IV is participating in Giving Tuesday on November 29, an international day of giving that follows Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

This year鈥檚 campaign focuses on raising funds to support the AVC Wildlife Service at 乐发IV. An anonymous donor has offered to become 乐发IV鈥檚 鈥淢atching Funds Partner鈥� for the campaign. All donations made on Giving Tuesday for the AVC Wildlife Service will be matched up to $10,000, doubling the impact.

The 乐发IV Faculty of Education officially launched an Island-wide literacy and numeracy outreach project on Friday, November 18, 2022.

The project is supported by a generous donation of $750,000 from Master Packaging. In recognition of the company鈥檚 support, a plaque will be placed in Memorial Hall, where the Faculty of Education is housed, at the entrance to the educational learning commons, which now includes updated resources made possible through the project. 

In August, Dr. Dennis Makau (PhD 鈥�19) was honoured with the prestigious Wayne Martin International Symposium for Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics (ISVEE) Emerging Scientist Award at the sixteenth international symposium.

On Remembrance Day, November 11, people across Canada gathered on the eleventh hour to pay tribute to the veterans who serve their country鈥攑ast and present.

Dr. Greg Keefe, interim president and vice-chancellor of 乐发IV, laid a wreath at the Cenotaph on behalf of the University during the Charlottetown Remembrance Day Ceremony. He was accompanied by Acting/Sub Lt Cedric Stead, an officer with HMCS Queen Charlotte and a political science student at 乐发IV. The 乐发IV Student Union executive also laid a wreath. On the campus, the flags were lowered to half-mast.

Each year during Veterans鈥� Week in Canada, we honour, pay tribute, give thanks, and remember the brave men and women who served鈥攁nd who continue to serve鈥攐ur country during times of war, conflict, and peace. We do this all week but in particular today, on November 8, Indigenous Veterans Day, and on November 11, Remembrance Day.
